GENERAL OVERVIEW AND MISSION
The overall objective of NNRC-METU is to conduct scientific research and collobrative industrial activities in the field of nanotechnology and nanobiotechnology and serve as world caliber national leader in this field. T he NNRC-METU has been supported through a project called METU-CENTER in FP-6 under the auspices of the METU Central Laboratory. Currently, the existing project has catalyzed national and international interactions which resulted in many scientific publications, workshops and standing collaborations. In addition to creating this scientific synergy another intention of the METU-NNRC is to establish a firm connection between the NNRC-METU and national industrial partners in order to generate dynamism in innovation, technology transfer and entrepreneurship. The idea for this is to enhance the speed of technology transfer from fundamental and applied research in the academic laboratories to strong and practical societal and economical impact.
The NNRC-METU also cooperates with academic departments to identify emerging areas of research importance and assists in hiring new faculty with a particular emphasis on encouraging faculty to participate in collaborative and multidisciplinary efforts in the field of nanotechnology and nanobiotechnology.
