INTERDISCIPLANARY RESEARCH GROUPS

Materials and Devices for bio-nano Interaction

Bio-nano interaction research group in the NNRC-METU conducts studies on new materials and methods to utilize enzyme-substrate and antigen-antibody interactions for sensing devices. The detection of both enzyme-substrate and antigen-antibody interactions are very crucial elements on diagnosing, measuring (quantitatively and qualitatively), and inactivation of microorganisms and biomolecules. Currently this technology is not mature and on the research&development stage. Such novel sensors can be applied widely in health, defense and food sectors. The interactions between nano particles, biological systems, and their parts (eg. Cells, proteins, DNA etc), and and the applications of bio-nano interactions such as preparation of antimicrobial surfaces, biopolymer based films and biosensors are the main research interests of interdisciplinary research group of NNRC-METU.
